The idea to produce this "catalogue" of indications entitled "Music Therapy in Neurological Rehabilitation" came from a call for more transparency from people working in music therapy as well as those on the outside. The basic concept is primarily to provide an overview of the application possibilities for music therapy in neurology; it should also contribute to the establishment of music therapy as a standard practice in the treatment of neurological disorders. It will additionally serve as a guideline for prescribing music therapy in neurological rehabilitation.

The latter is especially relevant in the area of clinical acute care / acute rehabilitation in view of the recently introduced patient classification systems (DRGs). It could lead to music therapy applications becoming a fixed aspect in this specialized field - and with a more secure base.
